Secondary English Teacher (KS4 & KS5)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Secondary English Teacher to deliver high‑impact lessons to Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students. The role may evolve into a curriculum leadership position for the right candidate, supporting both academic excellence and personal development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons for KS4 and KS5.
• Teach exam‑focused classes, prepare and mark coursework, and provide timely feedback.
• Create a challenging, inclusive classroom climate that motivates independent thinking and risk‑taking.
• Follow national curriculum and British public examination requirements, with knowledge of Pearson Edexcel as an asset.
• Utilise a wide range of digital and physical resources, and organise relevant trips, speakers, and fieldwork.
• Communicate effectively with parents and pupils on curriculum, pastoral, and learning matters.
• Record assessments, monitor progress, and implement intervention strategies as needed.
• Participate in departmental meetings, parent‑teacher‑student conferences, and extra‑curricular activities.

Required profile

• Proven track record of teaching high‑impact English lessons at KS4/KS5.
• Experience delivering exam classes and marking English coursework.
• Deep knowledge of English pedagogy and British examination standards.
• Ability to motivate pupils, foster independence, and support inclusive learning.
• Familiarity with the national curriculum and, preferably, Pearson Edexcel specifications.
• Strong communication skills for engaging with parents, students, and staff.
