Senior Backend Engineer (Media Delivery)

About the role

Frontify is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to own and evolve its media delivery platform, handling massive image and video traffic. You will work on a high‑scale system that processes, transforms, and serves media for global brands.

Key responsibilities

• Build and enhance the media transformation engine (resizing, format conversion, video processing) using FFmpeg, Node.js services and C++ core.
• Design, deploy and operate services on Kubernetes (EKS) with Helm charts, monitoring, alerts and simplification of complex setups.
• Develop async bulk‑processing capabilities, including job queues, autoscaling for spiky workloads and fairness between customers.
• Optimize delivery performance and cost by working with caching and CDN layers (Varnish, HAProxy, CloudFront).
• Participate in code reviews and document designs, decisions and runbooks.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing, building and maintaining scalable backend and background processing services (Node.js, TypeScript, Go or similar).
• Hands‑on operation of production services on Kubernetes with Helm, monitoring and live debugging.
• Strong knowledge of AWS architecture and cost‑optimisation for S3, CloudFront, Lambda and ALB at scale.
• Comfortable with Docker, Linux and debugging native C++ code when needed.
• Fluent English communication skills.
