Senior Backend & Platform Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a senior backend developer to design, operate and continuously improve the AI‑enabled services behind Specto Cloud, delivering secure medical spatial computing for surgical planning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain fail‑safe backend services for Specto Cloud, the license server, and relay infrastructure.
• Package, deploy and support services in hospital environments.
• Integrate with hospital systems (PACS) and handle medical imaging data securely.
• Implement authentication, authorization and encryption mechanisms.
• Design databases, APIs and portable cloud/on‑prem infrastructure that scale reliably in a medical setting.
• Champion quality and documentation standards and mentor team members.
• Work within the eQMS (IEC 62304, ISO 13485/14971) for secure development and operations.

Required profile

• Proven excellence in backend development using C#, ASP.NET Core, EF Core and PostgreSQL.
• Strong foundations in API design, data modeling and software architecture.
• Experience in secure DevOps, production deployment, observability, alerting and incident response.
• Solid understanding of authentication, encryption and secure system design.
• Experience shipping and supporting software in customer‑controlled or on‑premise environments (packaging, versioning, remote diagnostics).
• Self‑reliance, eagerness to learn new technologies and domains.
• Proficient written and spoken English.
• Valid work permit for the EU or Switzerland.
