Senior DevOps Engineer – OpenShift & Kubernetes

About the role

A client is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer for a full-time permanent position in Bern, working partly on site and partly remotely. The role covers infrastructure as code, Kubernetes/OpenShift operations, CI/CD automation and the operation of AI workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and evolve infrastructure as code (declarative, version-controlled, reproducible) with Terraform, Ansible and Helm.
• Operate, scale, secure and harden OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms for production workloads.
• Automate CI/CD pipelines for build, testing, security scanning, deployment and rollback, applying GitOps principles.
• Develop automation and tooling in Python, Bash, Go or PHP.
• Operate and extend the central LLM gateway (LiteLLM), covering routing, failover, multi-tenancy, quotas, caching and fallbacks, and make AI costs, usage, quality and security transparent.
• Containerize, integrate and run AI agents and AI services in production.
• Build monitoring, logging and tracing solutions (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Instana) and perform root cause analysis.
• Deliver large-scale customer projects from requirements to stable production, and document systems and processes clearly.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of ICT project experience, with a strong focus on DevOps, Platform Engineering or SRE.
• Hands-on experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes in production, Docker, and CI/CD with Jenkins, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions, Git and Maven.
• Solid experience with Terraform and Ansible, and good programming skills, preferably Python (Go or PHP a plus).
• Confident use of monitoring, logging and observability tools; practical experience with AI-powered tools and interest in running AI workloads.
• Basic knowledge of Kafka or RabbitMQ, APIs and API gateways; agile experience with Jira and Confluence.
• Fluent German (minimum C1).

• LLM gateways and LiteLLM, AI agents, RAG, vector databases, public cloud platforms, FinOps, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, service mesh, policy as code and supply chain security.
