Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

SHL Medical designs, develops and manufactures advanced self-injection devices such as autoinjectors and pen injectors, partnering with pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Its global team of 6,000 employees is headquartered in Switzerland since 2018, with key operations in Sweden, Taiwan and the US. The Senior Legal Counsel provides comprehensive legal support to SHL Medical and its affiliates and acts as a trusted business partner to management and internal stakeholders, giving practical, risk-based advice across commercial, corporate, compliance, employment and operational matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical, risk-based legal advice and support to internal stakeholders at all levels and to customers.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including service, consultancy, development and supply agreements, and other documents for commercial and corporate transactions.
• Support cross-functional project groups, including those related to the Swiss manufacturing site, with legal advice and contract support.
• Draft, review and negotiate project-related agreements, including lease and planning agreements, in close collaboration with stakeholders.
• Coordinate external legal advisers and law firms to ensure effective, timely and proportionate legal support.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in an international corporate environment and/or a reputable law firm.
• Experience in diverse, cross-cultural environments, with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, manage multiple priorities and work independently or collaboratively.
• Experience developing guidelines and policies and contributing to commercial strategy and contract templates.
• Law degree or equivalent legal qualification; fluency in English.
• Preferred: bar admission; in-house experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry, health-regulated environments and intellectual property licensing; German and/or Mandarin.
