Senior Manager - Data Architect, AI & Data

About the role

Deloitte's AI & Data team in Switzerland is looking for a Senior Manager Data Architect to support its clients in making architectural choices and leading the design and implementation of enterprise-wide data solutions. The role is based in Zurich, Basel or Geneva, on an 80-100% basis.

Key responsibilities

• Lead enterprise data architecture design, helping clients modernize complex system landscapes (MDM, CRM, ERP, cloud data warehouses) and define architecture standards
• Design and implement scalable cloud data platforms covering data modelling, integration, transformation pipelines, DevOps and AI-assisted operations, and lead onshore and near-/offshore engineering teams
• Architect integrations between cloud data platforms and AI/Gen AI platforms, or between MDM/CRM systems and data platforms
• Strengthen the market position through events, conferences and discussions with clients, partners and alliance partners
• Mentor junior team members and shape the expertise strategy for Switzerland and the near- and offshore teams

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience as a Data Architect, having led teams that designed and implemented complex cloud-based ecosystems
• Engineering background with hands-on data platform implementations (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Databricks, Snowflake)
• Ability to guide data engineers on coding quality, including tools such as SonarQube and AI coding assistants
• Experience with structured, semi-structured and graph-based data models
• Fluent English; German and/or French highly preferred

Required skills

• Data modelling: conceptual, logical and physical models, dimensional modelling, Data Vault, normalized and denormalized schemas
• Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure; modern data platforms (lakehouse, medallion, lambda, event-driven) in Snowflake and/or Databricks
• Architecture blueprints, solution design documents, estimation and delivery leadership
• Nice to have: Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), ETL/ELT (Informatica, DBT), metadata and event-driven architecture, SQL, Python, Spark, Parquet, Iceberg
