Senior Manager, Environment, Health & Safety

About the role

The Senior Manager, EHS will lead the operational implementation of the ISO‑certified Environment, Health & Safety Management System at Biogen’s Solothurn manufacturing site. Reporting to the Site Head of EHS, you will embed safety and environmental stewardship into daily operations and prepare the site for future full‑site EHS leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations and manage regulatory reporting, permits and documentation.
• Lead risk assessment processes, conduct site audits, inspections and investigations, and drive corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors and visitors; manage occupational health services and industrial hygiene assessments.
• Drive sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction, energy conservation and hazardous material management.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans in collaboration with Security and Operations Risk Management, and coordinate with local emergency services.
• Establish, monitor and report on EHS performance KPIs, preparing regular reports for site leadership.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading EHS management systems in a large‑scale manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of local, national and corporate EHS regulations.
• Proven ability to foster a proactive safety culture and engage employees at all levels.
• Experience coordinating emergency response and sustainability programs.
