Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Advanced Design

About the role

A senior mechanical design engineer is sought for advanced design work in VIP aviation, based in hangar facilities at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. The role covers the early engineering phases of new projects, from translating customer and interior design specifications into engineering inputs to defining long-lead items and supporting budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare engineering activities for new projects and translate customer specifications, PM technical specifications and interior design packages into layouts, specifications and lists.
• Carry out predictive analysis such as water consumption, weight and balance, aircraft loading and electrical loading.
• Support Sales and Interior Design with technical topics in the early phase of a project and prepare technical content for customer presentations.
• Check the feasibility of customer and designer requests and identify risks and novelties requiring early development.
• Define long-lead items, request quotations and place orders; help set budgets for new projects or change orders.
• Initiate development of novelty items internally or with third parties, and contribute to continuous improvement and new processes.

Required profile

• Degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering or a related field.
• More than 5 years of experience in VIP aviation or aerospace engineering; ideally an aerospace background, alternatively automotive or transportation experience.
• Profound knowledge of fundamental physics, technical mechanics, aerospace technology and materials, electrical and mechanical systems, and certification requirements in VIP aviation.
• Excellent written and verbal English; French and/or German is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently, with accuracy, attention to detail and safety.
