Senior Operational Security Engineer – Cybersecurity Operations

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Operational Security Engineer to strengthen our cybersecurity operations. You will work closely with infrastructure, network, and application teams to detect, prevent, and respond to security threats in real time, ensuring the stability and resilience of our live IT environments.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents across IT systems and networks.
• Manage and optimise Security Operations Centre (SOC) processes and tools.
• Implement and maintain security controls across on‑premise and cloud infrastructure.
• Lead incident response, root‑cause analysis and post‑mortem reporting.
• Conduct vulnerability management and coordinate remediation efforts.
• Strengthen identity and access management (IAM) and endpoint security.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure secure system design and operations.
• Continuously improve detection capabilities, playbooks and response procedures.
• Support audits and compliance requirements as needed.

Required profile

• 8–12+ years of experience in cybersecurity, focused on operational security engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with security monitoring and incident response.
• Professional proficiency in German (B2/C1) and good working proficiency in English.

Required skills

• SIEM tools such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel or QRadar.
• Endpoint and network security technologies.
• Vulnerability management processes.
• Network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs).
• Cloud security platforms (Azure, AWS or similar).
• Identity & Access Management (IAM).
• SOC operations and threat intelligence.
• Automation and scripting (Python, PowerShell) – a plus.
