Senior Project Lead Engineer – Power Systems

About the role

ABB is seeking a Senior Project Lead Engineer for Power Systems to drive technical activities in international projects across the full lifecycle. You will work in a hybrid model, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver integrated electrification, control, and instrumentation solutions for industrial plants.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical activities from concept to commissioning, ensuring integration of all engineering disciplines and compliance with contract specifications, quality, safety, and product standards.
• Provide technical guidance on high‑voltage (HV) and medium‑voltage (MV) power distribution equipment, conduct electrical studies, and support design reviews.
• Prepare and manage claims, change requests, and risk assessments related to scope, cost, and schedule impacts.
• Engage with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout procurement to delivery to guarantee equipment meets project requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on power distribution.
• More than 12 years of experience in power systems, preferably as a Lead Engineer or Senior Project Engineer.
• Strong leadership, solution‑oriented mindset, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus and willingness to travel internationally (~25% of the time).

Required skills

• Power distribution concepts, sizing and specification of primary and secondary equipment.
• Advanced electrical network analysis and simulation: load flow, short‑circuit, protection coordination, harmonic analysis, transient and dynamic stability, EMT simulations, power quality, and grid compliance.
• Experience with HV, MV, LV equipment, digital protection relays, and IEC 61850 engineering.
