Senior Scientist, Cell and Organoid Biorepository

About the role

The Roche Cell and Organoid Biorepository (RoCOB) seeks an experienced senior scientist to lead cell line and stem cell biobanking workflows, supporting drug discovery projects across the pRED organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement workflows for culturing, expanding, cryopreserving, and banking immortalised cell lines, iPSCs, hESCs and human primary cells.
• Coordinate quality control testing (identity, mycoplasma, sterility, viability, karyotype/genomic stability) with external CROs and maintain documentation.
• Train laboratory scientists in cell culture techniques and ensure compliance with licensing, MTAs and regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated on emerging biobanking technologies and share findings with internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a cell‑culture intensive laboratory, biobank or shared technology facility.
• Hands‑on expertise with immortalised cell lines, iPSCs, hESCs and human primary cells, including differentiation protocols.
• Experience managing licensing agreements, MTAs and regulatory compliance for cell‑derived materials.
