Senior Scientist R&D - Oligonucleotides (100%)

About the role

Bachem is looking for a Senior Scientist Research & Development for its growing oligonucleotide business, based in its new research laboratories in Bubendorf. You will develop and optimise manufacturing processes from synthesis to the final active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), working with customers and internal projects alongside other chemists and laboratory technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement process developments in cooperation with other departments
• Identify and evaluate innovative technologies, new reagents and materials
• Implement process transfers (scale-up) and support production when introducing new processes under cGMP guidelines
• Manufacture small quantities of products for internal and external customers (non-GMP)
• Write reports and create presentations
• Support production in solving chemical challenges (troubleshooting)
• Collaborate in project teams and communicate with the customer

Required profile

• Master's degree or doctorate in chemistry or a related field
• At least 3 years' experience in oligonucleotide chemistry, preferably in process development in an industrial setting
• Technical and project-related leadership skills
• Strong communication and organisational skills, detail-oriented and flexible
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; English required, German an advantage

Required skills

• Familiarity with common oligonucleotide manufacturing technologies such as SPOS
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
