Senior Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering

About the role

Google Cloud’s Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team blends software and systems engineering to build and operate massive, fault‑tolerant services. As a Senior Software Engineer you will improve reliability, capacity and performance of large‑scale distributed systems while driving automation and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Engage in and improve the full service lifecycle—from design and deployment to operation and refinement.
• Support services before launch through system design consulting, platform development, capacity planning and launch reviews.
• Maintain live services by measuring availability, latency and overall health.
• Scale systems sustainably using automation and evolve them to boost reliability and velocity.
• Practice sustainable incident response and conduct blameless post‑mortems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
• 3+ years designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large‑scale distributed systems.
• 2+ years leading projects and providing technical leadership.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering (preferred).
