Senior System & Network Engineer

About the role

dnata Switzerland AG is looking for a Senior System & Network Engineer to own and modernise the IT infrastructure across its Geneva and Zurich airport sites. You will be the technical reference point for servers, virtualization, storage, backup and network services in a 24/7 operational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and develop Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, virtualization, storage and backup platforms at both locations.
• Own and evolve the network environment, including firewalls, switching, VLAN design, Wi‑Fi and VOIP, in coordination with airport providers.
• Deliver roadmap projects such as firewall replacements, a full network redesign and migration from VMware to KVM.
• Act as the 3rd‑level escalation point for IT and application support teams, providing coaching and knowledge transfer.
• Maintain security standards, perform regular vulnerability checks and work with the Emirates Group Cyber Security Operations Centre.
• Evaluate new technologies, influence replacement decisions and support vendor/contract management.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a System Engineer, Network Engineer or similar, with end‑to‑end infrastructure ownership.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID and the Microsoft 365/cloud ecosystem.
• Proven experience with virtualization, storage, backup and disaster‑recovery, including migration projects.
• Solid networking and firewall knowledge (CCNA level or equivalent) and scripting skills (PowerShell).
• Excellent communication in English and German, willingness to work on‑site at Zurich Airport and share on‑call duties.
