Senior Technical Tendering Specialist - Substation Automation

About the role

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Senior Technical Tendering Specialist in Baden, Aargau, Switzerland, to lead technical bid preparation for strategic opportunities in the Renewables and Offshore business. The role drives competitive, technically sound proposals for large-scale renewable, offshore wind, grid integration and AC substation projects, working with global cross-functional teams and helping secure profitable business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical tendering for large-scale, high-value opportunities in the Renewable and Offshore AC market
• Prepare system proposals covering solution design, cost estimation and supplier quotation evaluation
• Define technical scope, identify risks and opportunities and support winning bid strategies
• Run internal tender reviews, risk assessments and approvals in line with company governance
• Deliver compliant, competitive proposals on time and advise Sales and Business Development during negotiations
• Evaluate suppliers and subcontractors against technical specifications
• Lead global, multidisciplinary proposal teams and mentor junior tendering professionals

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, preferably power systems or power engineering
• At least 5 years in project execution, engineering, system design, lead engineering, commissioning or a comparable technical role in substation automation, protection and control systems
• Ideally 2+ years in bid management, proposal engineering, tendering, sales support or a customer-facing technical role
• Willingness to travel internationally up to about 10%
• English communication skills; additional European languages are an advantage

• Strong understanding of substation automation, protection and control systems and AC substations
• Microsoft Office and MS Visio
• Ability to lead and influence cross-functional and virtual teams without direct reporting responsibility
