Site Reliability Engineer - Observability

About the role

Proton is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer focused on observability to help keep its privacy‑first services running smoothly for millions of users. You will own the logs, metrics, traces, and alerts infrastructure that powers our on‑premise data centers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and operate observability pipelines for logs, metrics, traces, and alerts using open‑source technologies.
• Collaborate with development and platform teams to deliver practical alerting, dashboarding, and integration solutions.
• Create reusable templates and tooling to streamline onboarding, incident response, and post‑mortem analysis.
• Promote observability best practices across the organization and raise the overall instrumentation quality.
• Develop AI‑powered tooling to improve detection, analysis, and response capabilities.
• Iteratively evolve the observability platform based on stakeholder feedback.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in an SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering role.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Go for building tooling and automation.
• Hands‑on experience operating open‑source observability stacks (logs, metrics, traces, alerting).
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes and GitOps workflows.
• Practical experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
• Strong Linux system administration skills.
