Software Application Development Engineer (m/f/d)

About the role

WinGD, a leading developer of two-stroke engines for merchant shipping and headquartered in Winterthur, Switzerland, is looking for a Software Application Development Engineer (m/f/d) for a full-time position starting by agreement. The role covers commissioning tools, software validation, project delivery and field rollouts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, enhance and optimize application software for commissioning tools, including coding, testing and debugging
• Define product requirements and set implementation timelines
• Carry out software validation activities based on the design verification plan
• Manage development projects to deliver the required quality within budget
• Lead the field rollout of new software versions
• Collaborate with external suppliers and give technical guidance
• Act as main contact for internal and external stakeholders, supporting discussions with engineers and customers
• Work in Agile/Scrum environments and maintain documentation such as system designs, test plans and release notes

Required profile

• MSc or higher in Software Programming, Automation and Control or a related discipline
• Extensive experience in requirements-based verification and validation
• Essential: in-depth knowledge of requirements elicitation and design specifications
• Essential: previous experience developing Microsoft-based applications
• Essential: project management principles and practices
• Very fluent English; good German is an advantage

Required skills

• C#, Visual Basic, C, C++ and .NET (C, C++ and .NET are an advantage)
• Solid understanding of front-end and back-end operations
• Experience with the V-model development lifecycle is an advantage
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet and Modbus is a plus
• Experience with embedded Linux is an advantage
