Software Engineer - Finance Core Platform

About the role

Lastminute.com, a European travel-tech leader in dynamic holiday packages, is hiring a Software Engineer for its Finance Core Platform team in Chiasso. The finance engine processes thousands of transactions, partner reconciliations and complex billing operations each day, and the platform ensures high performance, scalability and precision for every booking. You will build resilient, high-throughput microservices in a hybrid setup, working with engineers, architects and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, write and test high-quality software for core financial platforms, handling millions of requests per day
• Apply TDD, DDD, Clean Code and SOLID principles, and collaborate with architects on system architecture and cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on CI/CD pipelines
• Own delivery quality, system performance, reliability and scalability across the Finance Core Platform
• Solve complex domain issues while understanding the underlying business and financial requirements
• Share knowledge, pair program and mentor peers, and influence engineers across the product engineering department

Required profile

• Strong hands-on experience as a software engineer with OO/FP languages, focused on the JVM ecosystem (Java or Kotlin)
• Proven experience with the Spring / Spring Boot ecosystem
• Analytical skills, ability to make data-driven decisions and to translate business and financial needs into technical solutions
• Growth mindset, collaborative attitude and full fluency in written and spoken English
• Desirable: experience in product-centric companies or fast-paced startups, XP practices, AWS, microservices and Kubernetes, and asynchronous messaging (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
