About the role
Google is seeking a Software Engineer III to join its Core team and drive memory‑safe programming across its flagship products. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and deploying security‑focused solutions at massive scale, with opportunities to collaborate with internal and external partners.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement new techniques for large‑scale software systems, emphasizing memory safety and exploit mitigation.
- Partner with Google’s Memory Safety program, industry, and academia to retrofit spatial safety to C++ and transition codebases to Rust.
- Conduct security research, develop tactical mitigations, and engineer away classes of memory‑related vulnerabilities.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with at least 2 years of software development experience.
- Experience building software for data privacy or security, such as identity and access management.
- Strong foundation in security engineering, computer and network security.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Rust and C++.
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, system architecture, and compilers.
- Experience with open‑source technologies and programming‑language implementation.
- Security and API design expertise, including memory‑safety research and machine‑learning techniques.
