Software Engineer III – Infrastructure (RankEmbed)

About the role

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III to work on RankEmbed’s serving and indexing infrastructure, which handles millions of queries per second with low latency. The role involves improving large‑scale ML infrastructure and collaborating across teams to deliver robust model refreshes.

Key responsibilities

• Work on RankEmbed’s serving and indexing infrastructure, identify bottlenecks and deploy robust solutions.
• Design, implement, and execute rollout plans for RankEmbed model refreshes.
• Collaborate with SRE and Core teams to improve ML infrastructure best practices.
• Partner with internal and external Search clients to define deployment strategies.
• Evaluate performance of infrastructure components and propose improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) plus 2 years of C++ software development experience, or 1 year with an advanced degree.
• 2 years experience developing large‑scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or related compute/storage/hardware technologies.
• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
• Experience developing accessible technologies and using tools such as caffolding, Pod, and Flume (preferred).
