Staff Software Engineer, Field Engineering

About the role

A partner company is looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Field Engineering, based in Switzerland. The role helps build a new Field Engineering function within a fast-growing global technology environment, working across backend systems, APIs, data flows and external integrations for strategic enterprise customers. It combines technical leadership, autonomous execution and commercial impact.

Key responsibilities

• Build and implement technical solutions for a global travel technology platform
• Work with Account Management to find technical opportunities and fix issues affecting enterprise accounts
• Diagnose bottlenecks in backend services, APIs, data pipelines and third-party dependencies and own them through deployment
• Optimize pricing mechanisms and improve hotel inventory availability, mapping accuracy and supplier connectivity
• Improve pre-booking validation and booking recovery to reduce transaction failures
• Turn successful account-specific solutions into reusable platform capabilities
• Help establish the Field Engineering function and share technical knowledge

Required profile

• Senior staff-level software engineer with a track record of building complex production systems
• Strong backend engineering and distributed systems experience
• Ability to work across multiple services and technical domains
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment

Nice to have

• Experience with marketplaces, pricing systems or complex API-driven products
• Production experience with Go (Golang)
• Travel technology background, especially hotel inventory and booking systems
