System Engineer – IT/OT Infrastructure

About the role

The System Engineer will independently manage and administer IT/OT infrastructures, including servers, clients, networks, virtualization environments and OT systems, to support project execution and ongoing maintenance within a regulated pharmaceutical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Windows and Linux server operating systems, LAN/VLAN networks, firewalls and virtualization platforms.
• Provide direct troubleshooting and problem‑solving support at system, application and network levels in coordination with Automation Engineers, Global IT and suppliers.
• Implement corrective and preventive measures to improve infrastructure stability and support patch management, updates and backup processes.
• Create and maintain system design specifications, IT architecture diagrams and work instructions in a GMP‑compliant setting.
• Monitor server lifecycle, manage user accounts via Active Directory, and conduct incident and audit‑trail reviews.

Required profile

• Completed vocational training or higher education in computer science, systems engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering, IT administration or automation engineering.
• Professional experience in a highly regulated environment, preferably GxP or IVD.
• Fluent German and very good English communication skills.
