Technical Service Specialist – Gearless Mill Drive

About the role

ABB is seeking a Technical Service Specialist for its Gearless Mill Drive (GMD) product line. The role involves delivering service portfolio activities, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining high customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and problem solving remotely or on‑site, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, back‑office engineering and consulting.
• Investigate customer needs through professional consulting and manage relationships, acting as a 24/7 support line on a rotating weekly basis.
• Proactively suggest product and quality improvements and communicate them within ABB.
• Deliver technical consulting on service solutions to management and customers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience as an electrical engineer, product specialist or similar role, preferably in power electronics.
• Collaborative, solution‑focused approach with strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Attention to detail for product conformity, technical documentation and quality standards.
• Fluency in English; additional languages such as Spanish are a plus.
