VP of Sovereign Affairs (German) – SpaceTech Venture

About the role

The VP of Sovereign Affairs will lead the IBEX programme, turning early conversations with ministries, space and defence agencies into long‑term programmes. Reporting to the CEO, you will act as the voice of the customer throughout engineering and ensure compliance with export controls.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with ministries, space and defence agencies, and prime contractors.
• Shape mission concepts before tenders exist, understand procurement processes and write requirements.
• Drive the full sales cycle from initial signal to tender response and contract signature, starting with MoUs and pilots.
• Represent customer needs in engineering discussions and feed insights into IBEX development.
• Coordinate with legal on ITAR, EAR and national export‑control regimes.

Required profile

• Proven track record closing multi‑million government contracts with long sales cycles.
• Established network within German defence (BMVg, BAAINBw, Bundeswehr) and familiarity with NATO or EU programmes.
• Deep understanding of defence procurement, security and compliance processes.
• Technical depth in mission design and orbital mechanics to engage with engineers.
• Fluent in German and English.
