Workforce Strategy Head, Enterprise DSAI
novartis · Basel (City)
Job description
About the role
Novartis is looking for a Workforce Strategy Head for its enterprise Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) function. You will set the people and organization agenda for DSAI across Novartis, shaping how the company builds, attracts and grows critical DSAI talent and enables responsible human-AI collaboration. The role leads the enterprise DSAI OTR, including discussion at ECN level, and sets standards, governance and frameworks for careers, capabilities, talent and rewards. It complements, rather than replaces, the Workforce Strategy Leads supporting DSAI teams in their units. The role is hybrid and can be based in Cambridge, East Hanover, London or Basel.
Key responsibilities
- Set the enterprise DSAI people and organization strategy, making priorities and accountabilities clear across units
- Shape workforce and capability choices using scenarios, analytics and data storytelling
- Lead the enterprise DSAI OTR and present talent, succession and capability risks to ECN
- Create career development, mobility and succession mechanisms for DSAI roles
- Build the external DSAI talent brand and pipeline with universities and specialist networks
- Design enterprise standards for governance, rewards, career architecture and talent programs
- Define decision rights and governance so enterprise and unit roles do not overlap
- Influence at least nine ECN-1 leaders across R&D, Commercial, Operations and Global Functions
- Guide work redesign for human-AI collaboration and coach senior leaders through change
Required profile
- Extensive progressive P&O/HR experience, including strategic partnership with executive and ECN-1 leaders in a complex global matrix
- Strong organization design, strategic workforce planning and transformation experience
- Demonstrated experience creating global or enterprise-wide people strategies, standards and governance
- Evidence of leading enterprise talent reviews and succession discussions with senior executives
- Ability to influence multiple senior stakeholders without formal authority
- Relevant university degree or equivalent experience
Required skills
- Fluency in people analytics and confidence with AI-enabled tools and responsible AI principles
- Desirable: experience translating data science or digital strategy into workforce implications, or direct DSAI sector experience
What we offer
- Annual base salary range of 164,500 to 305,500 CHF
- Possible performance-based bonus and long-term equity awards
- Insurance, retirement and wellbeing plans, and global recognition programs
- Flexible and hybrid working, and at least 14 weeks of paid parental leave
