Associate Accountant

About the role

The United Nations Office at Geneva is seeking an Associate Accountant to join its Finance Section. Reporting to the Chief of Unit, you will support the financial management of UNOG operations, ensuring compliance with UN financial regulations and delivering accurate accounting services.

Key responsibilities

• Review, approve, reconcile and process a range of accounting transactions, including billing and deposit applications.
• Validate obligations and expenditures for services, supplies, equipment and personnel against UN financial rules and approved budgets.
• Perform IOV reconciliations, analyze suspense accounts, and prepare adjusting entries for financial statements.
• Analyze client financial reports, identify anomalies, and initiate corrective actions.
• Assist in the consolidation of Headquarters and field accounts and in the preparation of UN year‑end financial statements.
• Support the installation and administration of accounting systems in collaboration with the Systems Support Section.
• Research and respond to audit findings and supervise staff as required.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and UN financial regulations.
• Analytical and evaluative skills to conduct independent research and make sound recommendations.
