Associate Data Scientist (Temporary)

About the role

The International Trade Centre is looking for an Associate Data Scientist on a temporary basis to strengthen the Trade Map data pipeline. The role supports the Trade and Market Intelligence section by applying advanced data‑science techniques to improve data collection, processing, validation and integration.

Key responsibilities

• Explore, acquire and assess new data sources for relevance to trade analysis.
• Clean, format, parse and standardise data using SAS, Python or R to make it ready for analytical use.
• Design and develop data‑science products that automate data collection, processing and integration.
• Apply AI, machine‑learning, predictive analytics, text mining and natural‑language processing to uncover insights that are not visible through traditional methods.
• Document solutions, create tools and guide internal users to promote data‑science adoption.
• Train and supervise junior consultants involved in data‑science activities.

Required profile

• Under direct supervision of a Senior Market Analyst and in collaboration with an Associate Market Analyst and a Statistician.
• Mandatory knowledge of SAS; familiarity with Python and R is desirable.
• Experience with data acquisition techniques such as API querying and web‑scraping.
• Ability to apply statistical and machine‑learning methods to large trade datasets.
