Finance and Budget Intern

About the role

The Finance and Budget Intern will join the Financial Management Section at the International Trade Centre (ITC) in Geneva. This position offers a hands‑on opportunity to support global financial operations, deepen knowledge of UN‑aligned financial frameworks, and contribute to real‑world audit and reporting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Research, draft, and collect data for Finance Department policies and standard operating procedures.
• Review financial documentation submitted by prospective grantees and assess project viability.
• Conduct financial analysis of annual accounts, balance sheets, income statements and cash flows, and prepare detailed reports.
• Assist in reviewing grant agreements and reconciling grantee accounts.
• Participate in budget preparation, cost analysis and management planning.
• Support internal and external audit missions by verifying financial data.
• Identify potential financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a graduate programme or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, or a recent graduate (within one year).
• Studies in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
