Fullstack Software Engineer – Backend Focus

About the role

We are hiring two Staff Software Engineers to join our technology team in Geneva. The role is primarily backend‑focused but requires the ability to contribute across the full stack, from architecture to production operations.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end engineering initiatives, from problem definition and design through implementation, deployment and production support.
• Design and build scalable, maintainable backend services while occasionally contributing to TypeScript‑based Angular or React front‑ends.
• Collaborate with product and technical stakeholders to translate business needs into pragmatic technical solutions.
• Develop and operate cloud‑native solutions on AWS, including infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
• Design relational data models (PostgreSQL) and event‑driven architectures using messaging systems such as RabbitMQ and CDC mechanisms.
• Ensure production systems meet high standards for reliability, performance, security, testing, monitoring and observability.
• Investigate complex incidents, identify root causes and implement sustainable fixes.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews and promote best practices, including responsible use of AI‑assisted development tools.

Required profile

• Advanced expertise in at least one compiled language (e.g., Go, Java, Scala, C++).
• Strong scripting skills with Python, Bash or Ruby.
• Ability to work across the stack, including modifications to TypeScript‑based Angular or React applications.
• Deep knowledge of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, covering data modelling, SQL, indexing and performance tuning.
• Extensive experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
• Proven track record building CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions.
• Experience with event‑driven, asynchronous systems and messaging technologies like RabbitMQ.
