Intern – Investment Issues Section, Investment Trends and Issues Branch

About the role

This unpaid, full‑time internship is based in Geneva within UNCTAD's Division on Investment and Enterprise. The intern will support the Investment Issues and Analysis Section, gaining exposure to research, intergovernmental meetings, and technical assistance for developing‑country governments.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyse data on investment, multinational enterprises, and green foreign direct investment.
• Support research on sustainable development topics such as gender, tourism, climate change, and the digital economy.
• Identify private equity and venture‑capital investors through data analysis of MNE activities.
• Assist in organising events for the World Investment Forum 2026 and prepare briefing materials for senior officials.
• Contribute to the preparation and production of articles on investment and development.
• Attend meetings, draft briefs, and support reporting for the Division’s activities, including COP31‑related events.
• Provide any additional support as requested by senior staff.

Required profile

• Must be able to work five days a week (40 hours) on‑site in Geneva.
• Valid visa for Switzerland and ability to cover personal travel, accommodation, medical insurance, and living expenses.
• Strong interest in investment research, sustainable development, and international economic policy.
