Internship – International Trade and Commodities Division

About the role

This is a six‑month, full‑time internship within the Trade in Services Section of UNCTAD's Division on International Trade and Commodities. The position is based on‑site in Geneva and offers hands‑on experience in research, reporting and digital communications related to global trade.

Key responsibilities

• Support data gathering and research on international trade trends, policies and South‑South trade.
• Assist in drafting, editing and formatting reports, official communications, meeting minutes and presentations.
• Create web stories, news items and social‑media content for the section’s advocacy.
• Help organise meetings, webinars, workshops and training sessions, preparing background documents.
• Maintain internal databases and manage essential data files.
• Provide ad‑hoc administrative support as directed by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a university programme or recent graduate with interest in international trade and development.
• Ability to work full‑time (40 hours/week) on‑site in Geneva for six months.
• Valid visa for Switzerland and capacity to cover travel, accommodation, insurance and living costs.
• Strong written English and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
• Willingness to comply with UN internship regulations and confidentiality requirements.
