Senior Java Platform Engineer – Banking Sector

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Java Platform Engineer to join our Geneva‑based team serving the banking sector. You will work in a highly regulated environment, designing, developing and operating critical back‑end platforms while continuously improving quality, security and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java back‑end services and robust, scalable APIs.
• Implement and evolve REST and SOAP interfaces, ensuring compliance with architectural standards.
• Build occasional admin interfaces or operational support tools using Vue.js or Angular.
• Integrate and optimise access to Oracle and MS SQL Server databases via JPA/Hibernate and best‑practice SQL.
• Automate build, test and deployment pipelines within CI/CD frameworks.
• Apply application security standards, including authentication, authorisation and secure coding.
• Support production incidents, analyse root causes and drive performance and stability improvements.
• Produce technical documentation and collaborate with development, quality and security teams.

Required profile

• 7‑15 years of professional software development and production support experience.
• Strong command of Java (versions 8‑17) and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Framework, Spring Boot).
• Proven experience with REST and SOAP API design, HTTP protocols and OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
• Hands‑on experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, JPA/Hibernate, SQL, Liquibase and PL/SQL.
• Solid DevOps knowledge: Git, Maven, CI/CD pipelines (YAML) and automated testing.
• Familiarity with application security concepts such as OAuth2/OIDC, Kerberos and common vulnerability mitigation.
• Fluent English and residence in Switzerland near Geneva.
