UNCTAD Internship – Outreach & Support (Geneva/Remote)

About the role

This unpaid internship with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) supports the Intergovernmental Outreach and Support Service in Geneva. The intern will assist in strengthening cooperation with civil society organisations, parliamentarians and member states, working either on‑site or remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and organising UNCTAD meetings, briefings and videoconferences for civil society and intergovernmental groups.
• Draft communications, outreach materials such as flyers and electronic mailings, and respond to inquiries.
• Maintain and update the CSO database and contact lists.
• Attend meetings, take notes and produce short reports or minutes.
• Support the preparation of background materials for G77 and China Regional Group meetings.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a relevant university programme or recent graduate.
• Strong interest in international development, civil society engagement and intergovernmental processes.
• Ability to work full‑time (40 hours per week) for the internship period.
• Valid visa for in‑person work in Switzerland (if chosen).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating system.
• Experience using Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
