Application Support Engineer – Banking IT Operations

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Application Support Engineer to join HCLTech’s banking‑focused IT team in Switzerland. You will ensure the stability and readiness of critical application environments across development, system integration testing, user acceptance testing and pre‑production systems, supporting mission‑critical banking operations.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, maintain and validate environments across Dev, SIT, UAT and pre‑production.
• Perform routine system checks, log reviews and health verifications to detect issues early.
• Monitor application availability dashboards and respond to outages or performance degradation.
• Oversee batch job processing, including start‑of‑day and end‑of‑day cycles.
• Respond to incidents and alerts, conduct initial diagnostics and escalate when needed.
• Assist with database refresh activities, coordinate with DBAs, execute data‑masking routines and validate post‑refresh data.
• Log, track and manage incidents, changes and tasks using ticketing/ITSM tools in line with ITIL processes.
• Support CI/CD deployment pipelines, verify successful releases and manage rollbacks.
• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and knowledge bases in Confluence.
• Participate in incident‑resolution bridging and contribute to root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Valid authorization to work in Switzerland.
• 4+ years of experience in IT operations or application support, preferably in banking or financial services.
• Strong understanding of compliance, confidentiality and high‑integrity environments.
• Experience with modern observability tools, automation practices and agile delivery models.
