Associate Dean Rural & Head of Rural Clinical Campuses

About the role

The University of New South Wales seeks a senior academic leader to serve as Associate Dean Rural and Head of Rural Clinical Campuses within the Faculty of Medicine & Health. This position provides strategic oversight of the university’s rural medical education network, ensuring high‑quality teaching, research, and clinical integration across multiple regional sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior academic and clinical leadership for all Rural Clinical Campuses (RCC) across the School of Clinical Medicine.
• Advise the Faculty and University on rural health strategy, policy, and partnership development.
• Oversee operational optimisation, quality assurance, and resource stewardship for teaching and research activities.
• Foster strong relationships with Local Health Districts, hospitals, and community stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Manager, Rural, RCC Directors of Medical Education and senior staff to align curriculum delivery with rural health needs.

Required profile

• Current appointment at Associate Professor or Professor level (Level D‑E) with a strong record in medical education and rural health.
• Demonstrated experience in senior academic leadership, strategic planning, and partnership building.
• Full work rights in Australia.
• Willingness to be based on a major rural campus (Wagga Wagga or Port Macquarie) and travel regularly to other sites.
