Lecturer in Marine Science

About the role

The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of New South Wales is seeking a Level B Lecturer in Marine Science. The role involves high‑quality research, teaching and supervision of research students in fisheries research and/or biological oceanography, with strong links to policy and environmental management.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and publish original research in fisheries science, biological oceanography, or related marine science areas.
• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses and supervise research students.
• Engage with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Our Future Oceans and other research centres.
• Contribute to policy translation and public communication of marine science findings.

Required profile

• Marine scientist with expertise in at least one of the listed focus areas (e.g., fisheries science, pelagic ecosystems, marine biogeochemistry).
• Demonstrated ability to link scientific research to state, national or international policy.
• Experience in teaching and supervising students at university level.

• Level B salary range $127,000 – $150,000 per year plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
