Associate Director, Corporate External Affairs & Innovation Communications

About the role

CSL is looking for an influential communications leader to shape its reputation as a partner of choice for innovators developing therapies for rare and serious diseases. The role sits at the intersection of Corporate Affairs, R&D, Business Development and Commercial teams, driving a global external innovation communications strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute CSL's external innovation and business development communications strategy.
• Build and amplify a differentiated "partner of choice" narrative across therapeutic areas and innovation platforms.
• Partner with senior R&D, Search & Evaluation, Business Development and Commercial leaders to enhance strategic positioning and visibility.
• Lead executive thought‑leadership programmes, including keynotes, media interviews and industry events.
• Drive proactive media relations to position CSL leaders as trusted voices in biotechnology.
• Create integrated digital, social and content campaigns targeting innovators, investors and prospective partners.
• Maximise CSL's impact at major scientific and partnering conferences.
• Establish performance metrics to measure reputation, awareness and engagement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field; advanced qualifications advantageous.
• 10+ years of experience in corporate or healthcare communications within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals or related sectors.
• Proven success supporting senior executives and scientific leaders in global organisations.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills in highly matrixed environments.

Required skills

• Exceptional writing, storytelling and content development capabilities.
• Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into engaging narratives.
• Established media relations experience, ideally within life sciences or healthcare.
• Experience designing and delivering integrated, multi‑channel communications campaigns.
