Associate Political Affairs Officer – Temporary

About the role

The Office for Disarmament Affairs in Geneva is seeking an Associate Political Affairs Officer on a temporary basis. Reporting to the Senior Political Affairs Officer, you will support the Branch that provides secretariat and administrative assistance to the Conference on Disarmament and related multilateral meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse information from communications, publications and the press to keep the team updated on disarmament, non‑proliferation and arms‑control developments.
• Prepare briefing notes, background papers, talking points and draft correspondence for senior officials.
• Summarise articles from diverse sources and contribute sections to reports.
• Monitor emerging trends, including the weaponisation of new technologies, and feed inputs into Branch programmes.
• Support digital information management and outreach activities of the Office.
• Undertake other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in political science, international relations, international economics, law or public administration.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex information.
• Professionalism, teamwork and effective planning and organising abilities.
• Commitment to gender equality and inclusive participation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with digital information management tools (e.g., content‑management systems, databases).
