Associate Programme Officer (Temporary)

About the role

The International Trade Centre (ITC) is seeking an Associate Programme Officer to support its Office for Africa. The role involves research, consulting, reporting and administrative support for programmes that promote trade‑led development in Sub‑Saharan Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct basic research, collect and analyse statistical data for programmes and operations.
• Assist in consulting assignments, facilitate workshops and help develop client action plans.
• Draft and consolidate project deliverables such as annual implementation reports and technical documents, ensuring donor compliance.
• Provide administrative support for meetings, conferences and outreach activities, including agenda setting and logistics.
• Participate in field missions, data collection and substantive support.
• Coordinate budget‑related activities, including programme preparation, progress reports and financial statements.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in business administration, economics, development studies or related field (or equivalent combination of first‑level degree plus two years experience).
• Minimum two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management; experience with SME and trade projects in Sub‑Saharan Africa is desirable.
• Fluency in English and French at UN Level III (reading, writing, listening, speaking).

Required skills

• Strong research and analytical abilities, including use of electronic and database sources.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English and French.
• Ability to plan work, manage priorities and meet deadlines.
