Bioengineer / Molecular Biologist

About the role

Adaptyv is building an automated laboratory where AI agents design and analyze biology experiments. As a Bioengineer / Molecular Biologist you will join the biology and production team to develop and optimise protein‑expression systems, run high‑throughput molecular‑biology workflows and create assays that feed the AI‑driven platform.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise protein expression workflows – cell‑free (PURE, lysate), E. coli and potentially mammalian systems.
• Troubleshoot expression failures, mis‑folding or aggregation and improve yield and fidelity.
• Design and execute DNA synthesis and assembly protocols (PCR, Golden Gate, Gibson).
• Develop or adapt assays for thermostability, developability, enzyme activity and other customer‑driven needs.
• Perform bench experiments, analyse data and iterate on protocols.
• Collaborate with the automation team to translate manual methods into robot‑controlled workflows.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive hands‑on experience at the bench; years of molecular‑biology work outweigh formal degree titles.
• Proven ability to express and purify recombinant proteins.

Required skills

• Protein expression (cell‑free, E. coli, mammalian) and purification.
• DNA synthesis and assembly – PCR, Golden Gate, Gibson.
• Assay development – BLI, SPR, enzymatic activity measurements.
• Data analysis and systematic troubleshooting of experimental workflows.
