Bioinformatics Intern – Precision Medicine / Genomics

About the role

Labcorp is looking for a Bioinformatics Intern to join its Precision Medicine / Genomics team in Geneva. The internship lasts 5 to 6 months, full time (an 80% schedule can be considered), Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with one day of home office per week possible. It is a paid internship open to currently enrolled students.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret whole-genome sequencing (WGS) and other genomic datasets to support research and development.
• Evaluate assay performance by assessing sequencing quality, coverage, callability and variant detection across clinically relevant regions.
• Develop data visualizations, reports and presentations for scientific and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Support the development and documentation of reproducible bioinformatics workflows, scripts and analytical methods.
• Assist in evaluating emerging genomic analysis approaches, such as pangenome-based methods.
• Collaborate with bioinformatics scientists and multidisciplinary teams on assay development, quality monitoring and clinical genomics operations.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's programme in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Biology, Genetics or a related field; a Master's is preferred.
• Eligible for an internship agreement with a third party.
• Fluent in English.
• Scientific curiosity, willingness to learn new technologies, and ability to work independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Familiarity with sequencing.
• Strong organization, attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
• Effective written and verbal communication with diverse audiences.
