Catastrophe Modeling Analyst (80-100%)

About the role

Zurich is looking for a Catastrophe Modeling Analyst (80-100%) in Zurich, working as a bridge between the Catastrophe Modelling team for Europe and Asia Pacific and the underwriting community. You will turn model outputs, hazard information and engineering insights into clear, tailored guidance for underwriters and portfolio managers, using AI to build tools and reports that deliver insight quickly and at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a key link to the underwriting community, turning complex technical content into practical insight and actions for underwriters and portfolio managers.
• Use catastrophe model outputs, hazard information and engineering insights every day to support catastrophe underwriting and portfolio management at country and regional level.
• Design and build tools, reports and AI-powered capabilities that bring catastrophe risk insights faster to underwriting.
• Build and maintain a wide network across the underwriting community to understand stakeholder needs and turn them into clear priorities for the modelling team.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in catastrophe underwriting, using catastrophe data in daily work, either as an underwriter or in a role working closely with underwriting.
• Hands-on experience using AI successfully to support catastrophe underwriting, for example to automate analysis, build tools or speed up insights.
• Solid understanding of how model outputs such as average annual loss and exceedance probability curves feed into underwriting and portfolio decisions, especially for natural catastrophes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to explain technical content clearly to non-specialist audiences.
