Chief Technology Officer (AI/ML) for Hedge Fund

About the role

We are seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer to lead the AI/ML technology function of a Zurich‑based hedge fund managing $2 billion in assets. The CTO will shape the technical roadmap, scale proprietary AI solutions, and work closely with a high‑performing, Russian‑speaking engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the fund’s technology strategy to enhance research and investment capabilities.
• Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of senior engineers from top tech companies.
• Oversee development of sector models, data pipelines, and integration of machine learning algorithms.
• Lead AI/ML initiatives, including processing unstructured data and training custom large language models.
• Ensure scalability, security, and performance of all infrastructure and tools.
• Collaborate with equity and sector analysts to translate research insights into digital solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CTO, technical lead, or equivalent in a data‑intensive environment, preferably finance or quantitative research.
• Strong background in AI/ML, with experience at international big‑tech companies.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead elite engineering teams.
• Deep understanding of investment research workflows and quantitative strategies.
