Communication & Awareness Raising Officer (COMPASS)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Communication & Awareness Raising Officer to support the COMPASS and COMPASS MPF portfolios. Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager (COMPASS) and working closely with core management and thematic units, the officer will integrate digital solutions and social‑behaviour‑change approaches into programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee timely implementation of awareness‑raising activities across COMPASS and COMPASS MPF countries, ensuring alignment with IOM policies, donor requirements and SBC approaches.
• Develop, coordinate and monitor a programme‑wide communications strategy that aligns with IOM and donor priorities and is adopted across all relevant countries.
• Support the strategic use of digital and community‑based initiatives (e.g., WakaWell, Yenna, country‑level projects) to maximise outreach, engagement and sustainable impact.
• Contribute to high‑quality project development and the preparation and submission of all required reports.
• Promote innovation and learning by adapting new technologies, evidence‑based programme design and partnerships with universities, research institutions and specialised stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experience in designing and delivering communications, awareness‑raising and advocacy programmes.
• Familiarity with social and behaviour change (SBC) methodologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, donors and external partners.
