Construction Manager – Pharmaceutical Projects (12‑month)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead a 12‑month assignment for a global leader in active pharmaceutical ingredient production. Based in the Stein area of Switzerland, you will coordinate construction activities, ensure compliance with GMP standards, and work closely with EPCM partners and external suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and control service providers, suppliers, work steps and material flows.
• Manage client‑owned works and align them with the assigned EPCM company.
• Lead external planning teams and construction companies where EPCM scope does not apply.
• Oversee site organization, construction facilities, and ensure structural realization meets planning specifications, regulations and building standards.
• Conduct technical and commercial negotiations with suppliers and procurement.
• Coordinate equipment sizing, crate configuration and site entry with logistics and EPCM teams.
• Maintain project objectives for cost, schedule, quality and safety.
• Perform quality checks on mechanical pipework, supports, cable trays and ductwork against the approved 3D model.
• Identify safety observations, implement corrective actions and communicate them to all contractors.

Required profile

• Relevant work or residency permit, or Swiss/EU citizenship.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience managing large industrial and pharmaceutical construction projects, including cleanroom construction up to GMP grade C (ISO 8).
• Strong structured thinking, problem‑solving abilities and excellent written and spoken communication in English; German is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Navis Works 3D BIM software.
• Experience using Primavera P6 or MS Project for project scheduling.
