Data Engineer – Tactile Sensors & Robotics

About the role

You will bridge the gap between raw data from advanced tactile sensors and the intelligent information robots need to perform intricate manipulation tasks. The role involves designing, implementing, and validating solutions that enable robots to truly "feel" and interact intelligently with objects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deploy tactile perception and AI/ML algorithms for accurate object sensing and reaction.
• Design and optimise data collection and processing pipelines for tactile sensor data.
• Develop robust sensor‑fusion techniques and integrate tactile sensing solutions onto robotic platforms.
• Monitor state‑of‑the‑art research and contribute to intellectual property and business insights.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field with focus on tactile sensing.
• 5+ years of professional robotics experience, including programming, testing and deploying robotic systems.
• Hands‑on, proactive attitude with ability to work independently in an ambiguous, fast‑paced environment.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Required skills

• Data analysis, statistical methods and advanced signal processing.
• AI/ML for perception: data collection, feature engineering, model training and deployment.
• Sensor‑fusion techniques (e.g., Kalman filters, particle filters, probabilistic methods).
• Proficiency with ROS2.
• Familiarity with ISAAC Sim or other robotic simulators.
