Design Engineer

About the role

As a Design Engineer at Ashby you will blend high‑level UI/UX design with hands‑on frontend implementation. You will work directly with the co‑founder and VP of Engineering to shape the experience of a product used by over 100,000 weekly active users.

Key responsibilities

• Solve complex design problems and improve the overall user experience.
• Expand, maintain, and evolve Ashby’s in‑house design system.
• Collaborate with product engineers on bespoke design work and component creation.
• Redesign the mobile web app by gathering user feedback, wireframing new flows, and turning designs into polished UI using the design system.
• Build flexible, composable components that enable other engineers to create consistent setup wizards.
• Assist product engineers in improving information hierarchy and scannability of candidate assessment views.

Required profile

• Strong ability to both design and code, comfortable bridging UI/UX and frontend development.
• Experience delivering design solutions at scale for SaaS products.
• Proactive communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Passion for creating elegant, user‑centric interfaces.
