Director Net Zero Transition

About the role

IATA is seeking a visionary leader to steer its Net Zero Transition strategy. Reporting to the Senior Vice President Sustainability and Chief Economist, you will guide a multidisciplinary team to accelerate sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) adoption, explore new energy solutions, and develop carbon‑capture pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead IATA’s global net‑zero transition roadmap, covering fuel supply, pricing, infrastructure and emerging technologies.
• Produce authoritative research on SAF ramp‑up, life‑cycle emissions, hydrogen, electric propulsion and carbon‑capture options.
• Lead a group of subject‑matter experts across fuel supply, pricing, infrastructure and sustainability research.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, industry stakeholders and regulators to shape standards, trials and operating specifications.
• Foster a collaborative, up‑skilling culture within the team.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in aviation sustainability, net‑zero strategy or related fields.
• Deep understanding of fuel markets, SAF, and emerging low‑carbon technologies.
• Strong analytical and research capabilities with a track record of publishing influential studies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and collaborative leadership style.
