Director of Operations – Payments (EMEA)

About the role

Fireblocks Liechtenstein Ltd. is establishing a payment institution to deliver Account Information Services (AIS) and Payment Initiation Services (PIS) across the EMEA region. The Director of Operations will join the executive management team and hold primary accountability for the sound operation of the licensed entity, acting as the main liaison with the Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority (FMA).

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the day‑to‑day point of contact with the FMA for operational matters and manage the supervisory relationship.
• Ensure continuous compliance with the scope and conditions of the entity’s authorisation.
• Own regulatory reporting obligations and coordinate annual statutory and regulatory audits.
• Support the Board and executive management in governance matters, including preparation of Board materials.
• Oversee delivery of AIS and PIS services, monitoring service levels and quarterly reviews with the intra‑group technology provider.
• Maintain the outsourcing register, sub‑outsourcing controls, and the business continuity and incident management framework.
• Coordinate customer onboarding, support routing, and data governance in partnership with Risk & Compliance.
• Work closely with Risk & Compliance to sustain an effective control environment across AML/CFT, operational, ICT, and outsourcing risk.

Required profile

• Senior executive with extensive experience in operational leadership within regulated payment or financial services institutions.
• Proven ability to manage relationships with financial regulators and oversee licensing requirements.
• Strong governance acumen and experience supporting Board‑level decision making.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing outsourcing arrangements and business continuity planning.
