Director of Philanthropy

About the role

The institution seeks a senior leader to build a high‑impact development function, deepen donor relationships, and grow private funding streams. You will shape the fundraising strategy and position the organization as a compelling cause for alumni, foundations, corporates, and high‑net‑worth individuals.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute short‑, mid‑ and long‑term fundraising strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Identify strategic funding priorities and craft compelling cases for support.
• Build and manage a portfolio of major donors, leading end‑to‑end gift initiatives from identification to closure.
• Activate alumni and community networks to increase engagement and giving.
• Design targeted fundraising campaigns and foster a culture of philanthropy.
• Set KPIs, track performance, and implement tools for effective donor management.
• Report progress to senior leadership and act as an ambassador at external events.
• Recruit, lead, and develop a team of four professionals.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or strategic business development.
• Proven ability to design and execute high‑impact fundraising strategies.
• Strong stakeholder management experience within complex ecosystems.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a results‑driven orientation.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills in both French and English; German is a plus.
